Kathy started working for Dettmer Tire in 2016. Kathy looks after all the accounting activities at Dettmer Tire for both stores and the wholesale division. She enjoys spending time with family and friends in cottage country whenever she can.
Josh started working at Dettmer Tire in 2006, working part-time after school, outback. He has worked as a service advisor and warehouse manager. Currently he runs the marketing and day to day functions of Dettmer Tire.
Mike is one of our owners and the store manager at our Eramosa location. Mike started working at Dettmer Tire at the age of 13 on January 3rd, 1984. Originally, he would change tires after school at our Cork Street location. He eventually started working upfront as a service advisor until he opened our Eramosa location on November 1st, 1989, as the store manager. Mike’s favourite part of his job is the constantly changing environment working with our customers allows. He enjoys seeing many returning faces and helping new customers. In his spare time, Mike enjoys golfing in the summer and traveling to his condo in Mexico in the winter. He hopes to visit Hawaii in the next two years. If Mike could cross something off his bucket list, he would travel to Monaco to watch the Formula 1 race there. When Mike was growing up he wanted to be a lawyer and then an accountant, he studied accounting at Sir Wilfred Laurier for a time.
Brent has worked at Dettmer Tire for over 18 years! Brent is the service manager at our Eramosa location, he oversees almost all mechanical invoices and enjoys talking with customers. Brent is born and raised in Newfoundland, he came to Ontario 26 years ago. He enjoys taking as many trips back home as he can. He also enjoys riding his motorcycle whenever he can and spending spare time with family and friends.
Back in May, we introduced you to Mitchell, our go-to tire guy. Now Mitchell has moved into a service advisor role at our Eramosa location. With lots of back shop experience, Mitchell will be able to answer lots of tire and automotive questions in a more hands-on manner. Since May, Mitchell has gotten married and is looking forward to all the new changes that will bring! We love seeing our employees grow and evolve with us!
Kelly is the store manager at our Cork Street location. Kelly has worked at Dettmer Tire since high school, 15 years, in the service advisor role. Kelly’s job currently involves running the Cork Street store, managing employees, and interacting with customers. Kelly’s favourite part of her job is speaking with customers and helping them through their mechanical and tire purchase process. On weekends and in her spare time, Kelly enjoys going for walks with her dog, Rusty, and enjoying a glass of wine with friends and family. If she could knock one item off her bucket list it would be to travel around the world experiencing new foods and cultures. Growing up Kelly wanted to be a photographer or a chef. She tries to cook as many new dishes as possible, whenever she can. .
Chris is a service advisor at our downtown location on Cork Street. Chris has 3 years automotive apprentice training during his 9 years slinging wrenches outback and has been working in his current role for 4 years. Chris enjoys fishing and spending time time with his daughter.
Bill was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario. After graduating from John F. Ross in 1961, Bill got his first job as a bank teller at CIBC in downtown Guelph. In 1964, Bill started working at Dominion Rubber which would later become @uniroyaltires, as an accountant. In 1975 Bill transitioned to working for Dettmer Tire in Kitchener for Wilf Dettmer.
Bill purchased Dettmer Tire at the Cork Street location in September of 1978. Since then, as most small business owners do, he assumed or has taken part in every role in the business, from high level business decision making to janitorial work. In the 40 years that Bill has owned Dettmer Tire, he has grown it from a single store into two locations with two warehouses, and has spun off a parts store in the process.
Bill’s favourite part of his job is working closely with staff members, including family members, which span 3 generations. Bill’s deeply personal involvement in the business is one of the reasons that over 40 percent of staff has worked here for 15 years or more.
He is still very active in the business, showing up for work everyday. He still manages most of the high level business decisions and has consistently been working out of our warehouse managing customer’s stored tires. When he gets a chance, Bill enjoys golfing and having a glass of wine with his 4 adult children, and spending time with his 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Growing up, Bill wanted to have a secure job with benefits, something he has since been able to provide for his family.
Jan was born in Bath, England, Jan immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 4, settling in Galt, Ontario. After high school, Jan’s first job was working in the office of Ainsworth Press. Later she started working at Zehrs Grocers as a purchasing agent. As a purchasing agent, Jan would pick different foods, as well as, health and beauty products for the stores to sell. Jan met Bill in 1980 and the two were married in 1981. After having three daughters Kimberly, Kathy and Kelly, Jan decided to retire from Zehrs and start doing the accounting for Dettmer Tire. After semi-retiring in 2015, Jan is enjoying her weekly game of golf and yoga. Jan also stays busy volunteering at the Evergreen Center every week. When Jan isn’t busy volunteering, she is watching at least one of her eight grandchildren or three great grandchildren. One of Jan’s bucket list items is to spend an entire winter in Florida enjoying the sun and avoiding the snow.
